Leesylvania State Park

The other night I stepped outside to get something out of the car. Instead of being slapped with the instant cloud of humidity, it felt crisp.  Crisp is a word I usually only find myself using to describe the cool feeling as fall sets in.  My favorite season is fall. Here in Virginia, it's very much unlike the constant beautiful green backdrop of the Pacific Northwest's fall. It's breathtaking. I plan to take a visit up to Big Meadow when Nick comes home and everything has settled. Our trip there in early spring was beautiful, but I need to see it in the fall!

Even though it has cooled a little, it's still pretty warm out.  My mom is here visiting for a few days so we drove over to Leesylvania State Park to get a break from being cooped up in the house.  The beach wasn't in very good condition. There was a lot of garbage that had washed up on shore, but we found a couple of spots that were nice and sandy without all the mess. Typing this makes me think it would be a good service project to go pick up trash down there. We waded in to our ankles, but I didn't want the kids getting much wetter so most of our time was spent playing in the sand.  Ava was all too happy to be in the Ergo. I've tried to really put her in it whenever I can because while I was pregnant with her I didn't keep Gavin in much. Now he refuses to take part in being backpacked around.
