Hotel Living
We got to GA a week ago. I haven't done much posting because things have been pretty wild trying to get our tiny troop settled.
Over the weekend I had some news that a family member was hospitalized due to a broken neck. It was a miracle really that he survived and came out of surgery talking and alert. I spent allot of Sunday in prayer and nursing a pretty bad stomach ache. I am feeling better now and I've gotten a bit more sleep being here as Nick insists we have the lights out at 9 for him to get up before the sun!
It's been difficult to keep everyone happy while we stay here. As a family that spends most of the day outdoors, everyone is struggling a bit with being cooped up in the hotel room. Kaileb contracted impetigo a few days ago. To prevent spread or worsening the infection I have avoided the park and any public spaces that could pose transfer.
We kept busy with the park here on base and riding bikes outside when the parking lot has emptied for the day before Kaileb came down with his cold. While the little ones nap though, we are forced to spend some quiet time in the room. We have taken advantage of Netflix for sure!
We don't have a stove here in the room, but we have a full size refrigerator which is a life-saver. I brought our crock pot (and shattered the lid as I carried it up!), the rice cooker, the electric skillet, and our panini press/grill. I wanted to avoid going out to eat and feel very fortunate that I am able to do most of our cooking here!
Although, it's pretty cramped here, the kids and I are just so happy to see Nick everyday that I don't think anyone even notices the discomfort in being away from home. Another nice thing about being away from home is that I have so much less work to do! I have a smaller place to keep tidy and someone comes in and makes the bed everyday! I love being forced to wake up early from the sounds of Nick getting ready because I get to spend the morning with my bible, which I haven't been very consistent with lately.
For the holiday weekend, we've decided to take a mini vacation to another part of Georgia. We will spend the 4th here to avoid traffic mayhem, but I am really excited to explore the oldest city in Georgia.
