It's been raining allot here in Augusta. Just about every time I've gotten everyone showered, fed, and napped, the sky opens up and out come humongous drops of water. Yesterday, we were fortunate to get about half an hour before the lightning started and the hotel windows begun shaking with the sound of the thunder surrounding us. The bugs are pretty aggressive here so I picked up some California Baby bug spray. I love this stuff because it's natural and I feel safe using it on my kiddos, but most of all because it works! Gavin's already had 4 tick bites this year, none occurring in tall grass or underbrush areas, which has me a little paranoid.
We have decided to school some through the summer. If for no other reason, we do it to stay occupied while Nick is working for the day. I had the kids do an acrostic poem of SUMMER. If you aren't familiar with what that is, it looks like this:
Sunshine on my face
Under the shady tree
Melting ice cream
Many days in the pool
Evening thunderstorms
Running through the sprinkler
After they made a rough draft on paper, I gave them some paint and paper we picked up a few days ago and had them make an art piece out of it. Unfortunately, it began to rain on us so we didn't get to finish. In one of the pictures you can see that Kaileb wrote his S backwards! I guess we need to revisit that!
Gavin blew bubbles while we painted. He seemed happier trying to eat the soap than actually blow bubbles. After a while he got the hang of things though.
On another note, Nick and I have decided to do a bible study together. I told him he could pick the book....he picked Psalms! I know a study of Psalms will take a while, yet, it will be worth it. Any suggestions for a Psalms study?
