Beautiful Savannah

Although our visit to Wormsloe was the highlight of our trip to Savannah for me, I thoroughly enjoyed the Historic area. I think I took as many pictures of the four legged creatures as I did the statues!  We did quite a bit of walking around and visiting all the different squares and reading about Mr. Oglethorpe. James Oglethorpe was the founder of the Georgia colony. I had never heard of him before this trip, but am happy to know much about him now.

We ate at The Public for dinner, which was very good.  The restaurant sources their food locally and uses hormone-free and antibiotic-free meat.  It was a bonus that we could sit outside because we had tired and hungry children. I try to always be conscious of fellow guests wherever we are eating, who knows if they've just hired a babysitter to get some alone time?! Gavin wasn't happy to be sitting down so I was incredibly thankful we could be outside where his cries weren't the center of attention!

One place I wanted to go was Leopold's Ice Cream.  We had to wait in a pretty substantial line, but it was worth it.  I had a double scoop of Mint Chocolate Chip and Mocha Chip. I received surprised looks both from the girl who handed me the cone and Nick who probably thought I was going to have him finish it for me.  Don't worry though, I was able to eat every last bite!

We walked down to the river front for a little while.  I loved the street paved in stones, it made for a bumpy stroller ride, but I don't think Gavin minded.

I hope you get to visit Beautiful Savannah one day.  It truly is a magical place.
