Leaf Olympics.

We've been studying Ancient Greece in our Sonlight core. We learned about the Olympics and how very important fair play and good sportsmanship were to the Greeks.  Work and even wars were put on hold for people to participate in and go to view the Olympics.

I thought the kids would enjoy a little competitive fun. Of course I was ill prepared.  We went outside and played games in the front yard. Whoever won 5 rounds got the "gold medal."  I spray painted a few old DVD's with some gold and bronze paint we had in the garage.

One of the games we played was Stick Throw. I threw a stick in the driveway and whoever could get their stick closest to mine won the round. Real creative right?  We also played Who Can Throw Their Leaf the Farthest. Have you ever thrown a leaf? Not as easy as it sounds! The last game we played was Gather Leaves Into a Bag.  Whoever gathered the most whole leaves in one minute won.

I guess we didn't have any rigorous training to compare to, but the kids enjoyed the silly games and some time outside!
